Went onto Argos website November to reserve and pay for a gift item for Christmas. Gave my debit card details to pay for and secure the item and a window flashed up (within the Argos website) offering me a a discount of £15 off my next Argos purchase. Obviously (as anyone would) I clicked on the coupon. The next thing I know is that I am being debited £10 a month out of my account (as a debit card transaction) to Shopperdiscount.co.uk. Unbeknown to me at first, I had no idea until further investigation I have noticed that from November to March (inc.) I have had £50 in total taken out of my account.
I contacted the company (upon the advice of my bank) and they told me that I agreed to the transactions when I clicked onto the Argos coupon. I told them that I did not by not means authorise them to take money from my account and that I had never heard of them before. I demanded a refund but they said they could do nothing because I clicked on the coupon and authorised these payments to take place. I was absolutely fuming and told the bloke not to insult my intelligence basically and that this was absolute nonsense and said that he would be hearing from my lawyer. I got his name and address which both sound phony to me.
The bank will not refund my money so I am now going to the police for advice. I have also informed Argos and I will be writing to them also.
