My landlord never informed me of a cockroach infestation. They hired BEKK Pest Control to treat my apartment for German Roaches. Technician informed me that they have had an ongoing problem for several years with both German Roaches and the large roaches. I was instructed to move everything 2 ft away from the walls and cover it with plastic. I moved everything except the closets and bathroom which would not fit in the center of the main room (studio apt) and would move these outside to my car when the technician arrived between 9am and 5pm. I left to buy tarps and came back 30 min later and the technician had already treated my apartment between 10:00-10:17 and was nowhere in sight. My neighbor's apartment was supposed to be treated too yet she had not seen him at all when I talked to her at about 10:45.
BEKK treated my apartment with Phantom and ULD BP-100 without a protective tarp covering my clothes, bed linens, food utensils, and food. They chemicals were sprayed directly in cupboards and on all food preparation surfaces and directed me to not clean them for 1 month. A residue was left on all of my belongings including my clothes/bed/linens/toiletries (toothbrush etc)/makeup brushes/dishes/food etc. The product labels and MSDS sheets specifically state several times not to expose clothing/bed linens/utensils/food preparation surfaces or to spray directly on cupboards.
All of my belongings need to be cleaned and many need to be replaced. There is a film/residue left on everything. I have stayed with a friend since while I have been trying to find a resolution. I have submitted complaints to the housing department, osha, agricultural commission and the BBB. I keep being sent to different organizations. Meanwhile, I have paid $876 for my rent this month, as well as all the related utility and internet bills and have not been able to live there. I need my belongings laundered, dry cleaned and replaced before I can return to live there. My friends have been burdened with me and my dog staying with them and I have had to help pay their rent in exchange for my prolonged stay at their home.
Complaint: All of my belongings
are covered in pesticides and need to be cleaned and replaced. Pesticides were
used against manufacturer instructions and MSDS.
