On December 11th, I called into Dell seeking technical support for my Dell Inspiron. Eventually I was transferred to what I thought was Dell technical support, but was actually MyTechHelp. The whole time I was on the phone with them they promoted themselves as Dell Technical Support. They told me that for them to be able to fix my laptop I had to buy a $99.99 warranty. I informed them that I already had a warranty plan with Dell and that I shouldn't need to buy another. They responded by saying that that warranty had expired and that I would need to buy the 99.99 2 year plan. I was under the impression that the the cost was only a one time fee. After I gave them my credit card information they told me that they would transfer my call so that someone could start working on my laptop. I stayed on hold for over 30 minutes until my call was disconnected. I was sure that the representative would call back because they had my phone number but they never did, I eventually decided to buy a new laptop due to the many issues I had with my old one. Fast forward to January and I notice on my banking statement that I have two transactions of $99.99 from a company called MyTechHelp and not Dell. I called Dell to complain about the transaction because it was suppose to be a one time fee and I never received support from them, but Dell has no record of the warranty, and they also have stated that they are not at all affiliated with MyTechHelp. I have reported this transaction with my banking company as fraud and I hope that I can receive my $200.00 back. Please be aware!
