I went into the HEB store in Pearland, Texas on Friday 1/4 to buy groceries as I normally do every Friday (I am a very good customer who spends a great deal of money at HEB each week). I went to check out my groceries and I put two magazines on the conveyor belt as the first two check out items. The cashier whose name was Drew began checking out my groceries and he was a little rough with my groceries as he pushed them across the scanner and to the bagger. I did not say anything but I was a little irritated by his overt disrespect. I spent approximately $97 total, my husband and I then went put the groceries our truck and I asked my husband for my two magazines. We had approximately 6 bags and we could not find the magazines anywhere. I went back into the store with my receipt in hand and the cashier Drew was no longer at the checkout counter #8 where he had been instead he was now at the self check counter. I went over to Drew and told him that I did not have the magazines in any of my bags and he stated, "Well, I put them in your bags". I then walked over with him to the counter where he checked me out which was aisle #8 and the same bag person was there and a different cashier. I asked the bag person if perhaps the magazines were somewhere around there. He stated perhaps "they fell through the conveyor belt as that happens all time'. The cashier then stated, let me see your receipt and she stated "Just go ahead and get the magazines". As I was going to get the magazines, Drew stated, "I put them in her bags, but whatever". Needless to say, this made me very angry, so I stopped and stated, I do not appreciate being called a liar, I will go back and check my bags again. I then proceeded back out to my truck and told my husband what happened and we looked through all the bags once again and again no magazines. We then both went back into the store and we found Drew standing at the self check counter. Again, I told Drew the magazines were not in my bags and he again stated, "Well, I put them in there". There was an Assistant Manager standing behind us who asked what was wrong and I told her the whole story and she simply stated, "No problem go and get your magazines". Drew stated, "It is not a big deal'. This of course made me ever more angry as he also stated, "I told you just to go and get two more magazines'. I stated, "you never said that, all you stated was, "Well, I put them in your bags, and whatever'. I just walked off and got the two magazines and left as it was obvious the Assistant Manager was an idiot the same as Drew. When I got home I called the store and asked for a Manager over all the Managers and I got some guy who said he was "one of the managers". I told him the entire story and he apologized and stated that he would speak to Drew's immediate supervisor and he took my name and number and stated he would have someone call me back. Well surprise nothing happened and today is Tuesday 1/8. I am still very angry over this incident and I am tired of the unprofessional customer service that HEB allows to continue as this is not the first time I have had an issue with HEB employees but this is the first time I have complained.
