I was looking for a NBA Kevin Durant jersey for my son for Christmas. Did a web search found a few sites, I was going to use the NBA site because it is known and trusted. I decided to order from www.nbathunderstore.com since they had a jersey no other site had.
I had placed the order for $119.99 with my visa card on my mac computer. After submitting the order I saw a quick payment failed message then a blank screen. I then went to my credit card account and saw no payment attempt.
The next day I found an email in my spam folder that said due to web site malfunction the payment did not process and I should make a payment using pay pal. The amount had been adjusted to $117.99. I then check my credit card account again and found that a payment was in process for $122.71 to SZ opener technology co.
I went back to the web site and noticed 2 things I had overlooked before there was no phone number and the licensing for the site was the same as the web address. I went to review the email again noticed it was from a hotmail address and there was a second email saying payment had been received and order was being processed. No contact information on either email.
I then did a web search and found a similar situation with a NFL jersey site. That person received a different jersey than ordered with no return information. They went to shipping company and said that the shipper did not include their sent from address. It came from China and would cost $200 to return it. I called my credit card company and filed fraud charges with them.
