Examiner.com in the period 2008 - 2009 was spamming the internet, and often Craigslist, with help-wanted advertisements for writers. The ads very often contained misleading statements, i.E. Lies related to the amount of money a writer could earn through Examiner.com
Writers advocates succeeded in greatly lessening the number of fraudulent posts Examiner.com succeeded in making.
The company has standard formulas to defend its fraudulent advertising. It will say "Being an Examiner is not for everyone, " as if that exonerated it from the guilt of posting fraudulent help-wanted ads.
On July 2, Megan Pittsley posted a Craigslist Writing Gigs announcement for columnist who would supposedly be paid ten cents per page view.in her CL announcement, Ms. Pittsley did not state that the "offer" was to write for Examiner.
An investigator responded to her announcement and was sent an e-mail saying that he should let Examiner know that Ms. Pittsley recommended him to them, because she would get extra site credit that way.
It is yet to be determined whether Ms. Pittsley is acting as an agent for Examiner, to get around the bans on its placing fraudulent ads. She was asked for documentation that Examiners are being paid ten cents per page view. She became defensive and insulting and refused to provide the documentation.
She posted a similar announcement on the Boston Craigslist. Here is evidence of it:

Writers should guard against being suckered in by Examiner.com and dishonest, self-serving people like Megan Pittsley.
