Fake British red cross
Nigerian scammers already scamming Haiti donations!

Anyone who has turned on the news or spoken to another human being has heard of the tragic catastrophe in Haiti. Many of us feel urgency to somehow help the victims of the earthquake. With every news program comes images of children suffering greatly from this tragedy. Well, those good ol' Nigerian scammers are at it once again, preying on your compassion. These scammers have NO heart or soul, and will victinize those that do.

According to CBC (www.cbc.ca) there are warnings to people outlining the scam that immediately started with this tragic event.

The scammers use a British Red cross letterhead requesting urgent transactions to help the victims. CBC explains the rip off of any scam: THEY REQUEST THAT YOU SEND MONEY VIA WESTERN UNION OR MONEY GRAM!!! PLEASE, ANYONE THINKING OF DONATING DO NOT WIRE ANY MONEY!!!

Nigerian use this so the victim doesn't know the true location and also cannot be traced. They ALWAYS use this method. BUT just because they don't use wiring methods in an email or website, does NOT mean they are not a scam.

One charity that i am positive is not a fake and will go directly to help victims is this site:

Remember, even if a site or email looks official, ignore it and google for the real charity. There are so many fakes that mimic the real charities. Never answer with donations through an email. Always go to the real site. If youre not sure what the real site is, go to the bbb.org and search under charities to see a review of the charity (which is a good idea anyhow) and if you're satisfied with that go to the website from there!

Don't let all these scammers make you too scared to help. Go to the clintonbushhaiti fund site that's posted above, or go and find the charity on the bbb!

Remember, www.clintonbushhaitifund.org. This site was set up to be a safe site because so many scammers are taking advantage of people. You can be sure that your donations are safe here.
