I was led to directmovies.com by internet advertisement for movie, music download (file sharing) at a cost of $1/month. I was led to a page to enter visa/debit information thinking I can easily handle $1 a month. After ordering, I received no confirmation of order (email), first bad sign! The file downloads were of poor quality or wouldn't open at all. Second bad sign! Checked my bank account of a suspicious charge for $48 and found out it was from directmovies.com or SGADA as indicated by bank records. Third bad sign!
Their is no mention that a one-time charge of 4 years (48 months) or $48 would take place. The site specifically states $1 dollar per month. I've been duped. The bank contacted the credit card company so I can file a dispute, and said it is likely I will receive my $48 dollars back. I have disputed charges in the past that were resolved in my favor and is the reason for my optimism. But if/when this happens, time is of the essence. Dispute the charges immediately.
The bank is also cancelling my card and issuing another as a safety precaution. Lesson Learned? Only give credit card info on-line to companies I know to be reputable!
