HughesNet service

After using HughesNet for a couple of years now, in addition to having access to other ISPs elsewhere, it's becoming apparent to me that HughestNet's service is horrible.

I have a hidden download cap, and then my service drops to 20kbs maximum. Most websites take at least 30 seconds to load afterwards, and use of any programs that require internet connectivity or server communication is rendered nearly impossible.

HughesNet goes to great lengths to offer as little bandwidth as possible, and their customer support is horrible. If you call and complain about your service speed, they will never ask you how much bandwidth you are using and explain their data cap. They will give you the runaround and send a technician to "reposition" your satellite, which is literally a useless procedure used simply to make lesser informed customers think that something has been done about their bandwidth issue. This is the typical "shut up and take it" highway robbery service one can come to expect of companies such as this.

HughesNet undoubtedly does not have the hardware pipeline to properly support the volume of customers they have taken in. They are blatantly overcharging for a service which may as well be off for many hours of the day, as it is literally slower than dial-up once you've reached your cap.

At my place of business, I use literally hundreds of times more bandwidth within an hour than is alotted for my HughesNet service at home for an entire day; and yet, the two services cost the same monthly fee.

Please understand that the company takes active measures to reduce the service you are provided. This is as if you're allowed 2 buckets of water from your plumbing system a day, at which point it slows to an unusable drip.

HughesNet is total and complete rip off and I should have canceled my service months ago. I regret that they have squeezed so much money out of me.
