Fraudulant billing resolved

I tried NetZero's HiSpeed dial-up service and saw that it still had the banner at the top of the page. This was a problem for me since I need the entire screen for some of the programs that I use. After trying NetZero HiSpeed Internet for five minutes, I realized that it wasn't for me. I then went to the NetZero's website and cancelled my account. I also called them and got a confirmation number that I have cancelled my account.

After a few weeks, I received a bill in the mail from NetZero. I called them and seemed to get things worked out. The following month, the same thing happened. This continued for five months.

I then went to Consumer Affairs (for my state) online. Consumer Affairs wrote me a letter stating that NetZero is a California based company and would foward my complaint to Consumer Affairs of Califonia.

Consumer Affairs of Califonia wrote me a letter and stated that the complaint was not within their jurisdiction and would foward the complaint to the Attorney General of California on my behalf.

The Attorney General of California wrote me a letter stating that it had contacted NetZero and has resolved the problem. Attached to the letter from the Attorney General of California was a letter from NetZero stating that the matter was resolved and would not affect my credit rating.

Thank you Consumer Affairs!!!

Got a problem with a company? Try to first resolve it directly with the company and give them enough time to work out the details. If it becomes obvious that they just scam people, then go over thier heads and take it to Consumer Affairs.
