Comp USA, Apparently, Has bad sales practices!!!

I just read the recent consumer complaints about Comp USA and found that it was similar to my experience in New Jersey almost 3 years ago! The sales person kept going to his supervisor and something I thought would take at most an hour took 2 to 3 hours.

Finally, I bought the computer and monitor. When I got it home nothing was set up on the computer. Meaning, once you turn on a new computer you should have a set up process that brings you straight to a normal Windows back drop. The most you should have to do is sign-up for the other services you want. It had NOTHING! Naturally I returned it after trying to get it to work. I did not break anything. I did not add something that should not have been there. I did, however, return it the way I got it.

Without listening to my reasons for returning it I was told I would have to pay a re-stocking fee. The product did not perform as it should have so I should not have had to pay a re-stocking fee. After a while the manager came to speak with me and IMMEDIATELY told me the computer did not work because I was STUPID! He would not hear anything I had to say and did not allow me to complete a sentence. After hours of a one-sided yelling match I decided to try and let them get the thing to work the way it should since I was only losing time and sanity.

In the end I decided to look elsewhere instead of giving them all of my money. I thought the re-stocking fee would not be that big a deal but they were not going to have all my money only for me to have future problems should I have to bring it back for service. When I did get my other computer that sales person told me all I should have to do with a new computer is plug it in and set up a log on name. There should be nothing for me to install or discs to run for the same operating system as the other computer (as was the case with Comp USA). The operating system was Windows xp.

I ended up with a better computer from Circuit City and better, faster service. I have not had to go back at all and their 800 number helped me more than they needed to when I got a virus.

So, I stongly suggest avoiding Circuit City no matter where you are since what happened to me years ago is still happening.By the way; I did write a complaint about how I as treated then in detail. I received no apology or comfirmation of receipt and I believe that manager is still there.

Never again in New Jersey
