Once every month forthree months they called to tell me to keep my computer on overnight so thatthey could play with it. Next morning I would get a report saying that mysystem was in disastrous condition. It criticized the cache size in my Firefoxand Internet Explorer even though I rarely use them my normal browser isOpera. It said that my recycle bin was too small, at the same time acknowledgingthat it was empty. (I clean it every day.) It gave me advice about Windows Mailand Outlook Express, which I have never used. It also told me that my system wasat risk because it could not detect a firewall. There is one, and it has alwaysbeen enabled. Every month I gottheir report, I offered to talk directly with one of their technicians, butthey insisted on communicating by text, which gave them the option of ignoringanything I was saying. But even worse than the time I wasted trying to dealwith them, they installed LogMeIn on my computer, which allowed them to controlit whenever it was powered on. Omni-tech has a one-size-fits-allapproach to maintaining a computer, which seems to be aimed at people who spendmost of their time on line either with email or browsing. I do not. I spendmost of my desk time off line, working with word processing programs.inMarch I uninstalled LogMeIn and wrote a letter insisting on voice communicationwith somebody there who is willing to discuss my computer. They must still belooking for somebody like that because I have not yet heard from them after twomonths.
