Data Recovery of Shaker Hts, Ohio Data Gone and Money Too!

In October I paid Disk Data Retrieval (AKA Data
Recovery of Shaker Heights, Ohio) over $600 to recover data from a corrupted
hard drive. They had initially wanted over $900 for the service. They also
tacked on $75 for an on-going recovery service which I have never understood.
It was something about they could only give the good deal of only $600 if I
included an on-going service which would cost $25 a month. I was assured that
this on-going charge would immediately be canceled after three months.

After dealing with John in Ohio and Jake in Miami, Florida
for about four months (I live in Southern California) I found that they had
recovered most of my photo files. Although they said the data recovery was
100-percent, they werent able to recover one single application file, such as
Microsoft Word files or Microsoft Excel files.
I still had to pay the full amount, although they had told me that I
would only pay for the files they actually were able to recover.

They sent me a DVD in February. It was blank. When I
reported it was blank, they didnt believe me. They wouldnt send another DVDeven
though I had already paid the $600 plus on my credit card.

They wanted me to sign a form saying I was 100-percent
satisfied even though they hadnt recovered all my data. They made me drive to
downtown Los Angeles and show them the blank DVD before they would give me my
data on an external hard drive that I had to buy. Even then, I had to give them
another $600 in the form of a postal money order. So at the time I handed them
the check, I had paid $1,200 plus dollars. They said they would credit my
account for the amount of the check on the next business dayafter I signed a
form saying that I was 100-percent satisfied. I finally signed the form to get
my partial data but only after a manager agreed that I could write a note on
the form saying that I wasnt 100-percent satisfied.

Several weeks went by and they didnt credit my account for
the $600 (overpayment) until my credit card company got involved!

I have just recently discovered that they (through a shady
subcontractor) are charging me $25 a month for some kind of protection service.
This was supposed to have stopped after the first three months that I had
initially paid forbecause I had to. The charges didnt stop. My credit card
company has suggested that I get a new card with a new numberwhich I am doing.

Dont trust Disk Data Retrieval
or anyone they are in business with. Dont sign their 100-percent satisfied
form. Better yet run as fast as you can from this company!
