The site purports to be a legitimate paysite for purchasing online music / mp3s, and promises "unlimited downloads" for what initially seems to be a very reasonable yearly "membership" fee, compared to similar services.
In truth, the "membership" is specious at best. The site
offers no "access" (as it claims to) to anything except
information on using popular peer-to-peer filesharing
software, all of which is readily available elsewhere on the Internet for free!
The site's "privacy" policy and "terms" are useless, as they pop up in small, unscrollable browser windows that cannot be enlarged, and are thus unreadable.
No contact information is provided on the site, nor is any
provided in the "receipt" that the company ("Solid Solutions Corp.", allegedly based in Miami, Florida) automatically e-mails upon payment for its "services."
"Logging in" to the site accomplishes nothing, as far as I can tell, except that a welcome message is displayed with the user's name (something any rudimentary Web script can do).
The site's "support" form cannot be "submitted, " but only
links back to one of several scant "help" pages.
The only "guarantee" the site offers is as follows: "Please read the Terms [with a link—again, unreadable] for questions about cancellations before canceling your account. Canceling your account after one day or several days does not stop any charges as the service does not offer free trials. Please note
that after canceling your account you will not be able to log into the web site."
This seems to be a take-the-money-and-run operation.
With its prominent ranking in many popular search engines and all the controversy recently surrounding music piracy and illegal downloading, this site could be duping thousands of consumers who only seek to "do the right thing" by purchasing the music they wish to download.
