On 11/08/09 I reacted to an advertisement on the internet that popped into view as I was leaving Google. It promised to pay people $25 per link to those who linked ads to Google. It was implied that Google, CNN, the New York Times, and others carried their ads, lending an air of authenticity. All I had to do was pay $2.97 and they would send "kits" to instruct me on how to do this job. I used my credit card to pay the $2.97. I received two e-mails from them, shown at E-MAIL #1 and #2 below.
I logged onto the site with the password given and discovered the "product" was really inspirational videos on how to create a blog for your creative business. Since I have no business in mind to create, I immediately left the sight and sent the e-mail titled "Return" shown below as #3.
Three days later (November 11), I was called by Visa who warned I had a suspicious charge of $74.97, and was told if I wanted to follow through, I had to first call the company Learn2Blog4Cash at 866-235-7988. If I couldn't resolve it I had to call my bank.
I called the number about 5 times on 11/11/09 and never got farther than being on hold. On two occasions, I let the hold last over 30 minutes. The same thing happened at the number shown in e-mails #1 & #2 (877) 204-7404).
I tried to contact my bank, but It was Veterans Day and the bank was closed.

I called the Technical Contact line and got man named Sia who said he was on the "Green Team". He said he could do nothing because I couldn't give him an account number. I told him I was never given an account number, but that he could locate my account because it was created only 3 days before. I gave him my name and he said there were too many persons by that name, even if I gave him my address, to allow him to identify the correct account. He said I would have to call my bank.
I never authorized a charge anywhere near $75. So I have asked my bank to assist me in accordance with Federal Regulation E.
