I could not understand why phone bill (which is a bundle deal with Verizon) was like $20 more every month than it should be.
Verizon told me they were being billed $18 a month by a company called Premium Long Distance, and by law, they had to pay it, and then bill me for it. I never heard of Premium Long Distance, had no idea what they did, and why they were billing me. Neither did Verizon.
So, it was up to me to call Premium. The operator was very, very slick. She kept saying, "I understand, so you want to continue with our service, " after I clearly said I did not. It was bizarre, and arrogant, and appalling. It took several requests to get her to confirm she heard me say (which I said about four times), I want to cancel "my subscription, " and have a credit made to my telephone bill. When I mentioned I was going to contact the attorney general of my state, she finally heard what I wanted.
