Identity Theft, Fraud Dallas Texas

On 7-26-09, I discovered pending charges on my bank debit card for $29.95 from MyCreditHealth.com. I contacted MyCreditHealth and they informed me that I had ordered a copy of my credit report. I informed them that I had not done so and asked them to refund the charges. I was hesitant to provide them with my contact information but they claimed they could not verify the purchase without it. Once they confirmed my city and state, I gave them my street address - they said it matched the address on file. I was informed that I could only receive a refund if I filed a complaint with www.ic3. Gov and forward the email to [email protected]. They would not give me the last 4 digits of the soc. Security number on file, but confirmed that the 4 digits I had to provide them were correct and that I was a fraud victim. The did provide me with the email address used to obtain the credit report and it was not mine. They then offered to SELL ME THEIR PACKAGE to avoid future instances of fraud!
I declined their offer, explaining that their company had left a very bad taste in my mouth as someone has used their service to obtain my credit report - charged to my account!

After reading similar accounts on this web site, I will also file a complaint with the New York State Attorney General's Office. I have cancelled my debit card number and have placed alerts with the three major credit bureaus. I am left wondering, did anyone access my credit report, or is this only a scam initiated by MyCreditHealth.com?
