I ordered Amy Bass' "The Niche Blogger" program from her website after reading a few online reviews (from paid "students" I later learned). The program claims she earns $5K per month just from blogging and will teach others how they can do the same. I chose the Lifetime membership option as it was on sale at that time. The cost was $197 for all access to her site and its contents plus a lifetime of free coaching. Her web page claims "100% Guaranteed" all over the place so I did not believe I had anything to lose.
After reading through her materials it was clear that this was nothing more than a rip-off of two other popular affiliate-based referral programs and not worth the money. I politely wrote Amy and asked for my refund. She declined stating that I was a lifetime member and I was not eligible for a refund. I quickly went back to her website and scoured the pages trying to find this information. No where did it state that Lifetime Members were exempt from the refund! I wrote her back and told her this. She replied that she was willing to help with any questions I had. I told her I did not have "questions" about her program, I just didn't like it and wanted a refund as she clearly stated she would do on the web site. She responded that she wasn't going to offer me the refund, I already had looked at the materials and therefore was not eligible. She agreed with me that the refund information was not clear. She said she would put this information on her site to eliminate future confusion.
After doing some further research, I have found others have had this happen and are not happy with her program. It appears that most of her earning come more from her paid memberships to her website rather than from blogging as she claims.
As of 01/29/09 she changed her web site information regarding the refund, a full month after my request. I guess others had started to have the same problem? I also noticed that the Lifetime Membership is no longer offered on her sales page.
Bottom line, save yourself the money. Learn from my mistakes and don't trust Amy Bass!
