Above named person responded to my Craigslist posting selling equipment. They claimed to be on a "business trip" and were satisfied with items and price. They requested my name, address and phone number. I offered my PO Box.
The reply came back that the check was in the mail, but that they mistakenly overpaid and that I would contact them when I received it. I stated my firm policy against sending money back and requested the person call me immediately. There was no further contact.
I was suspicious, so I did a search on [email protected] and found a number of attempted fraud schemes. On some of the postings, they included a name of Jacqueline Carland and a return postal address of 4625 OLD WINTER GARDEN RD in Orlando, FL. This address is a building with several businesses located within. A search of Jacqueline Carland in Orlando returns only 1 hit: Jacqueline Carland on 4405 Kirkman Rd in Orlando. This is an apartment complex and likely the residence. The listed phone number is 407-298-1388. An attempt to reach this person was unsuccessful.
It is important to realize that all overpayment situations are fraud schemes. And the more that this is reported, the less opportunity they have to further their illegal operations.
