AOL America online
Ripoff stealing of money from our checking account

Please help us terminate AOL Internet's monthly stealing of money from our checking account. I tried AOL for a day in about October. AOL never did work properly on my computer, so we did not ever use it. Certainly, we never used the free 1000 hours! Instead, we subscribed to Insight Cable Internet. It took an Insight Technician to be able to remove the insidious AOL software from our computer so that other internet software would function!

Repeatedly, we have tried to stop the debiting of AOL from our personal checking account. Our Bank has had me cancel my Debit card, which is a very irritating situation. I must sign for a new card.

In addition, I must sign an affivid that pinpoints the details of the exact instances whenI tried to notify AOL that we did not want their services.

This is nearly impossible to do because AOL does not make it easy to contact them and end service.in fact, I have found it frustrating and time-consuming as well as ineffective.

We have not used AOL for months, since the intial trial loading in October. However, AOL constinues to take money out of our checking account monthly. I am so frustrated. I will not buy over the Internet again because it opens my account to ongoing thft. There is no other term for what AOL is doing.

It is my understanding that this problem is wide-spread. I know why. Users cannot end the service after loading the "free" trial offer. This is a scam.

AOL should be prosecuted. I would like to stop AOL from touching my account ever again.in addition, it would be nice to recoup the money they stole from our family account. I am a teacher. I spend money on student needs and classroom supplies regularly. It is a shocking insult that AOL would fleece citizens who do not want their product.

Please help us and others in this awful situation. We may have to close our checking account that is more than 30 years old to stop AOL from its continuing theft.

We will cooperate to help anyone stop this practice. I will never use AOL in my lifetime, and will advise anyone else to avoid AOL also. Throw those "free" diskettes away! They are the gateway to your personal assets. I am angry at myself because I should have known better. As an educated consumer, I should have never given out my credit acount number - and will not again. This was a tough but lasting lesson to learn.

Thank you for your assistance!
