I bought the HP Photosmart C7208. I had an earlier photosmart but I wanted the added features. When I went to set up the printer it wouldn't accept the ink cartridges. The tech support said the inks were dried out. I went to a top electronics store and bought a new set of cartridges. Now the printer states it wants the introductory cartridges. I put those in, it won't start.
Basically, HP got so greedy they wrote their software so that the printer won't work unless it's full of what it thinks are full, proprietary cartridges. Unfortunately, they couldn't even get that right. When you give it good cartridges, it can't recognize them. Perhaps their introductory cartridges have a special code? But then the introductory cartridges are dried out, so they won't work. And the tech support doesn't know that, so I waste another 45 dollars on new ink cartridges and it still doesn't work.
This printer is supposed to fax, it's supposed to copy, it's supposed to scan and it's supposed to print. Only copy and print need ink. But the system is so locked up that you can't get it to start unless it likes every cartridge.
I grew up in the silicon valley. This company is moribund now. It used to be good. Not anymore.
Altogether, I lost $280.00 to this ripoff.
