This morning I went online to pay some bills and noticed a $15.00 charge from Classmates.com. I immediately stopped what I was doing and went to their website to contact someone. I got a response right away informing me that there was some wording on the sign up portion advising me that they would automatically renew my enrollment.
To say the least, I do not remember seeing any such warning or I would have voided it right then and there. I have contacted my bank and will follow all the steps given to attempt to get my money back. I also went on the website and changed everything there so they can no longer debit my account.
So now I have three more months and with that time I will send an email to everyone I can advising them of this scam. I urge everyone to do this. Post it on your personal bulletin board so if someone pulls up your id they will see the warning. I simply placed this "Thought I'd warn you just in case you are not aware. If you sign up for a membership on classmates, they will automatically bill you every 90 days and will not refund the money. So if you aren't interested in their site, cancel your automatic renewal."
So let's all work together and make Classmates.com put this wording into a much larger print so all will be aware of it.
