Complaint / Review
Alyon Technologies
Ripoff ripoff business from hell fraudulent ripoff business

I guess I'll add my two-cents to the growing list of complaints about this company...

My Experience
On Jan 14th I received a bill from Alyon Technologies for $729.95. My "service detail" listed several instances (1/6-1/8/03) of PREMIUM WEB CONTENT - ADULT for which I was billed $4.99/min. What makes this really interesting is that I have and still have a LONG DISTANCE BLOCK on my phone line. I called my local phone company on 01/15/03 and they informed me that

1) The block is still in place and was during the period in question

2) That, as far as they could tell, NO CALLS long distance or otherwise were made from my home during the times/dates in question

3) My long distance service had not been changed nor did I HAVE any long distance service then or now.

Wait this gets better,

After grilling my 14yr old son I figured out that after he had visited a gaming site to get the latest (censored) codes for his new XBOX a series of pop-ups commenced, and he closed every one of them. I checked his history and indeed, I found that the pop-up for NOCREDITCARD.com was on there, but he insists, and I believe him, that at no time did he ever agree to anything. I have since installed various virus, pop-up, spyware etc. Stoppers to avoid this ever happening again. I am filing with my AG, the AG of Georgia, the FCC and the Georgia State Francise board since the bill includes "State Taxes: $38.70"

So the deal is, this company basically is HACKING your computer, installing a Trojan Horse VIRUS and with that, getting your home phone number. It doesn't necessarily need to dial a long distance number (because in my cause it is impossible), they are charging for something that they're not even ATTEMPTING to provide. What's worse is that when I got to my son's computer to work on it, his homepage had been changed to some porn site with very graphic depictions of penetration etc. On it, not to mention his desktop was littered with "Adult Content" links etc.

WHAT I KNOW NOW
1) They are targeting young people knowingly
2) They are illegally invading our privacy
3) They are HACKING and installing virus software on our computers
4) They are peddling pornography to underage minors
5) You don't have be home, or connected to a phone line to get charged for their services

I am currently hunting down the game site that provided this site to my son since I feel they are equally responsible. Also responsible is the State of Georgia which is also directly benefitting from this scam and indirectly involved in distribution of pornography to minors, and should be mentioned in any class-action suit if they continue to ignore this problem.
