We also were ripped off by Rob Fresn of Iron Horse Machinery Sales.in late we sold a HAAS vertical machining center that he was brokering, not a machine that he owned. We sold it to our customer. Our Controller mixed up bank wires that day and overpaid Iron Horse by $7000. When we first called Rob Fresn, he promised to go to the bank the next day and reimburse us for the overpayment. After that, we were never able to get him on the phone, and to this day, one year later, he has not reimbursed us.
In talking to other used CNC dealers in the machine tool industry, it quickly became apparent that he has screwed MANY other dealers, including several who also paid him for machines that were never delivered. He has the same pattern of operating. After he screws a dealer, he disappears for a couple of months, then reappears after the dust clears to screw someone else. I am more than happy to provide the names of other used CNC dealers who have been victimized by Rob Fresn. It's hard to believe that a criminal like him can still be in business, which only proves how huge the U.S. Manufacturing market is, that his terrible reputation has not completely caught up with him yet.
Several dealers told me that they were surprised that he hasn't been physically harmed after screwing so many dealers. The only answer that I can come up with is that dealers like me are embarassed that we were taken by Iron Horse and prefer to conceal it rather than talk about it. But this is one instance where I will endure the humiliation to help prevent another fellow used dealer from being victimized the way that I have been. I encourage these other dealers to report their case and spread the word about this website so that Iron Horse is hurt where it counts, in lost sales and revenue. That is the only way we can legally fight back and hope that Rob Fresn will someday wake up and change his ways.
