Took my money too - but I GOT IT BACK

I too had the same experience. After feeling hopeless i decided to do what ever I could - may sound silly but I emailed all of the email addresses found under contact us on www.intelus.com:

[email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] and [email protected]

I received a response the very next day. From Christopher Garling, who is the Intelius Supervisor of Customer Relations

Here is a copy of what I wrote: (its a little long but believe it or not, I got my refund back two days later!!!) this response was written after the contact person (Chris) suggested I call the hotline... Ha!!!

I have called the company and I have gotten the runaround and charges have still been occuring on my card. The last charge occured yesterday and I am quite annoyed.

I have researched this company Privacy Matters and records state that somehow they are able to get your card number when you request information from Intelius.

I initally made two requests from intelius for 2.95 ea and every since that request I have been being charged $19.95 on my account. This has been happening for 3 months now.

The number that you have given me has been called before. It is completly automated. When you request to cancel your member ship, they ask you for:

(1) membership number - which I do not have be it that I never signed up for an account with PM

(2) your credit card number that is being billed - which I refuse to give out again, How is it that they dont already have that? Its currently being utilized for fradulent charges (If I was able to speak to someone personally they could find my account just as easily as you have with out an account number or cc number)

(3) your phone number - under the circumstance you understand why I would not willing give out my phone number to an automated system which claims I have account that I do not. They already have my credit card number which somehow they have recieved via Intelus which means that intelus would have violated a privacy law (funny how this company name is privacy matters? - right!)

Lastly, I have all of the email that was sent to me when I signed into Intelus for information. No where does it state or offer me to sign up for PM - so how is it that they have my credit card number hmmm? This is not a random incident. Research reveals Intelus is related to the PM.

The online Intelus privacy policy states:

Information Security
We intend to protect your personal information and to maintain its quality. We implement appropriate measures and processes, such as using encryption when transmitting certain sensitive information, to help us keep your information secure and maintain its quality.

My information along with many others has not been handled this way. At this point there is only TWO things you can do to help me. You can find out how I can get my $60 back. But most importantly, you can find out why this is happening via your companys web site. Most if not all records indicate that a refund of these fradulent charges NEVER happens. Many of the indicents that have occured involve greater amounts than what was charged to my account.

You can help me put a stop to this. I would like to forward this information on to the President, CEO, CFO or who ever can provide a resolution. Please get back to me with whatever information you find.

Thanks for your assistance in this matter and I look forward to hearing from you.
