Zillow uses incomplete and outdated public information to put a 'zestimate' on peoples homes. They offer this 'dis'service for free using ads for revenue. They have no interest in helping the people they hurt when it's brought to their attention. The use generic disclaimers stating they are only a 'starting point', get an appraiser, etc. The uninformed buyer looks at this site and beleives what the see. Properties are often under valued and in some cases higher.
There are obvious bugs with their system. If you go to zillow.com and open the discussion link you will find a host of 'topics'. Within those topics you can get a feel for this unjustice and the arrogance from David G and Drew. David G a director and Drew a moderator as far as I know.
It's a horrid site and we need to get our politicians to take a deep look into what is going on with bad data from public records and ask that this type of explotation stops. When an unresponsible company uses ones personal information it should at least be accurate.
They have added a feature to get a mortgage quote on line through their website. No one is watching and you can see the crooks are there. I would never, ever promote getting a mortgage quote from such an irresponsible web site.
When reading the 'realtor blogs' there is alot of infighting and again would not be interested in finding a realtor through this site. It's a horrible site, should be shut down, at least this buiness f 'zestimates'
As long as they are operating a disclaimer should be put on each and every zestimate not burried 'somehwhere' in the small print that no one reads.
Everyone needs to check their homes on this site and if what you find is grossly incorrect speak out. There is no way to contact zillow other then their website through the discussion boards and you will be get a satisfactory answer there.
What they are doing is a dis-service to the public and they do not allow you to be removed from their site even when they know they are not using correct information. They have no credibility and it's spreading. They are harming the already fragile housing market and it needs to stop.
