I take care of all of my father's finances. One day I noticed a 14.95 charge on his account. Actually there were two, one from Shopping Essentials and one from Passport to Fun. Both of these seemed very suspicious to me. They looked like some sort of internet charge. Since my father doesn't even own a computer I began to investigate immediately. I called the first company, Shopping Essentials and was told the membership was under my brother's name, this was very odd. Of course since the membership was in his name they would not give me any information about how he was able to purchase the membership with my father's card. They claim to have cancelled the account and agreed to refund one month of charges. They would have refunded all of the money if had been someone I did not know, like it should matter. Anyway after thinking about it the only time we ever used his card on the internet to purchase something was to buy a plane ticket, not so coincidently, for my brother through Travelocity.com. I knew it had to have come through their web site. After calling the second company, Passport to Fun, and complaining, I was specifically asked if I had purchase a plane ticket. AHHH my suspicion was confirmed. I tried calling Travelocity about this and was basically told that I would have HAD to subscribe in order to be charge. I believe that these subscriptions were built into the checkout process and God know how many people unknowingly accepted them.
