I signed up to buy on gunbroker.com last night. They required a credit card and then charged $1.00 to my card to be held as credit with gunbroker.com.
I found an item I wanted and used the "buy now" option. I soon received an email from the seller demanding surcharges in the amount of 4 percent for credit card, 4 percent for Paypal and/or $1.00 extra shipping for using their web site to complete my transaction. None of this garbage was listed in the item listing at gunbroker.com. I advised the seller that I was not going to pay surcharges and I got an email telling me to use their web site (and pay the extra dollar shipping). I refused and demanded that the seller explain to me how to purchase the item at the exact amount and shipping listed in the gunbroker listing. Well, to keep it short, this issue is presently unresolved.
I immediately started looking over the gunbroker.com site to find and email to determine if this is allowed by gunbroker.com. Although there are links for contact information, there is no email or phone to contact gunbroker.com. There is no real problem resolution process.in fact you can't even cancel your account or have your credit card information removed from their database without sending a written request to their mailing address.
It seems to me that if you sign up to use gunbroker.com you are entirely at risk and apparently there are no rules to keep a seller from attempting to jack up the prices of items (using add on fees) after agreeing to purchase.
