While searching for new items to buy in bulk and sell individually on the internet I, like so many others, came across liqidation.com. I was intrigued by two items they listed; Proto wrenches and Propper Military shirts.in both cases, the bids on these items were way below their retail prices. I knew the value of these items (at least what they should be if they were what was described in the listing). I was a mechanic many years back with a full set of Proto tools, and I was in the military. The items were listed as NEW. So I bid on them, and won.
First shock was the shipping charges. I admit they give an opportunity to find what the items would cost to ship. I didn't look that up on their cost in one case. They are WAY beyond true cost. But I paid, figuring that I would still be able to make a profit.
Well, I would make a profit, but my conscience has to be put aside. First of all, the Propper shirts. They arrived as described. Count matched the listing. But surprisingly, the shirts do not match those sold on Propper.com. They are 100% cotton, and Propper shirts of this type on the Propper site are a blend. Secondly, I find that they are not of the same stitch quality as expected. Buyrs have already complained that they must be seconds.in fact, I think they are possibly knockoffs. Fake. So I'll still list them for sale, but I'm not happy about it. I'm contacting liquidation.com right now, but I don't hold out for much luck.
As for the wrenches, I'm not sure. The second one I sent out was defective. A 3/8 ratchet, it was missing the ball that holds the socket in place. Useless. Now I worry that I bought a production run that is known defective. Once again, little recourse for me.
I also bought a set of battery operated robots from their LA warehouse just to test pickup of a purchase. These items were so cheap I'd be embarassed to give them away as presents. Only half worked, and what they did do as a supposed robot toy was less than I'd expect from a 21st century toy.
So I spent about $2500 at liquidation.com. I hope I'll be able to recover that, but I think it will take a long time. I certainly won't make a profit. I suggest people stay away from them. As far as I'm concerned, this site should be called dump.com.
