Beware of www.everyprice.com (whose ostensible legal name is noted as EveryPrice.com, Inc. On its web site).
Purportedly a price comparison search engine, www.everyprice.com features as comparison merchants The Digital Nerds, Broadway Photo, and Prestige Camera, internet merchants who have a history of advertising low electronic prices, and then attempt to pull a bait-and-switch on the buyer, or attempt to coerce the buyer into purchasing accessories (and often unnecessary ones) at high prices. When the buyer refuses to concede to the extra items and extra charges, he is often told that the item advertised is "out of stock, " or is a "refurbished" item and that a "new" item costs significantly higher.
I had that experience with a real rip-off merchant, The Digital Nerds, which is "price compared" on the www.everyprice.com web site. Amazingly, The Digital Nerds supposedly has 2523 customer reviews on that web site, and not one of them showed up as a negative! (Check The consumer complaints for the real reviews on the advertising fraud being perpetrated by The Digital Nerds!) Also amazingly, I believe The Digital Nerds has only been around for about 6 months or so, a very short time in which to accumulate 2523 customer reviews (let alone all positive ones).
In addition, Broadway Photo, another internet merchant that has received many valid complaints as to false advertising and questionable business practices, supposedly somehow managed to receive 2173 positive customer reviews AND a "Trusted Merchant" status. And Prestige Photo, another merchant who has received complaints along the lines of the two aforementioned internet merchants, has 1256 reviews (most positive) and a "Quality Seller" rating.
Putting this in perspective, Amazon.com has but 7 reviews, and only a 3 out of 5 stars rating! So we're to believe that not that many people shop at Amazon.com?!
Further, I personally submitted a NEGATIVE review of The Digital Nerds to www.everyprice.com, and it was NOT posted! Correspondence sent by me to www.everyprice.com regarding this non-posting went unanswered.
In addition, the "ratings" given to merchants like The Digital Nerds, Broadway Photo, and Prestige Camera are very fishy just by virtue of the "identities" of the supposed reviewers: they are generally in the form of first names like "Jennipher, " "Richard, " and "Margaretta." Also, several legitimate online merchants have no reviews at all!
It's obvious what is occurring here. EveryPrice.com, Inc. (assuming that name is even a true legal entity) at best is allowing fraudulent merchants to post ersatz positive reviews for their companies on the www.everyprice.com website. At worst, the www.everyprice.com website is either working hand-in-hand with or is actually operated by these questionable merchants.
So beware of the www.everyprice.com website and those fake positive reviews you'll see for those rip-off merchants.
