We wanted to add PayPal as an additional payment option to our e-commerce website and on 2/5 hired Sound Commerce, LLC (represented by owner Hasan Robinson) for the project. We have discussed the project details with Mr. Robinson between 2/4 - 2/5 in various emails and he assured us that this project would only take a few days.in fact, in an email dated 2/5 Mr. Robinson states that this project would be completed by Monday, 2/12. The agreed upon price was $500.
Mr. Robinson started the project on 2/5 but the project deadline came and went without any project deliverables. We inquired about the project status several times while Mr. Robinson continued to string us along for numerous days without producing any results. On 2/16 Mr. Robinson informed us that the solution was complete and could be put into our live site - all we would have to do is pay $800 (that's $300 more than originally agreed upon). He justified the $300 increase by adding additional functionality to the solution that we had not asked for. We told him to remove said functionality and that we would only pay the $500 we had agreed upon at the beginning of the project.
By now, this short project was delayed by more than a week and I had to leave the office for a business trip. I informed Mr. Robinson that I would return on March 3rd and wanted to go live with the PayPal integration on that day. He agreed and marked his calendar. On March 3rd he attempted to implement the solution but failed. On March 4th and 5th he was still trying to get his solution to work. On March 6th I received yet another email from Mr. Robinson saying that he is still not able to get the solution to work. At that time, I made it clear to him that I was running out of patience and that he had one last shot at completing this project successfully. I asked him to set a deadline for the successful completion of this project himself and he chose March 9th as the final go-live date. I agreed and informed him that I would expect a full refund if we would not deliver a working solution by that day.
Needless to say, the final deadline passed without a working solution.
In summary, Mr. Robinson was hired to do a web development project that he was unable to complete. As a result, we expect a full refund of the amount paid by us yet he continues to deny our request.
We have now turned this matter over to our debt collector and are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau as well as PayPal. We will use all means necessary to collect this payment from Sound Commerce, LLC including legal action.
It seems that we are not the only company suffering from Mr. Robinson's questionable business practices. There is a pattern to his sub-par performance as we have found at least two additional complaints that were filed against his company on the BBB website.
All dates and facts in this complaint can be substantiated with emails from and to Mr. Robinson.
