I am a small business owner that bought into the Webxites hosting site a little more than a year and a half ago. I was told by their marketing staff that while their prices are higher than other sites, it was well worth it because:
1) I would get up to four domain names for the price of one.
2) The web software package came free to me with 24/7 tech support. 3) I would own my domain name rather than the host site owning the name. 4) After a year I would be free to take the domain name and my web site elsewhere.
It turns out that I only got one domain name. The tech support phone numbers listed at http://corp. Webxites.com/support/index. Aspx are disconnected and a year and a half, Webxites own that single domain name and won't give it back to me without an administrative fee. (No the administrative fee" was not in the contract!) In addition, they will only allow me to transfer my domain name if I sign and fax back to them a form renewing my contract with them!
It is a big con game. I have begged for return phone calls from their management to no avail. I will be writing formal complaints to the Better Business Bureau, the FCC and to ICANN.
