On February 23rd, I went to the Babies-R-Us gift registry site to purchase an item to be sent to my daughter before her 1st baby was born. She had gone to the Ogden, UT store, picked out the items she wanted and put them on the gift registry for family members and friends to purchase what she would need. They did not tell her that the items in the store do not look like the items sent through Amazon.com. I arranged to purchase the item she needed and was directed to the Amazon.com site for purchase. Could not get their site to accept my Visa Debit card so I mailed Amazon.com a check for $159.65 - total amount including shipping. Check cleared bank and item was shipped on the 23rd. She received it the following week.
The Eddie Bauer Musical Deluxe Playyard - Mercer that she placed on the gift registry from the store is not the same one that is received if you ordered it online! The picture on the online order is the same as the store, but what you receive has a different SKU #. After getting it put together, we realized that the changing table could not be attached and did not even have any hard support (like the one in the store and in the picture). We boxed it back up, went to the store to exchange it (and they won't exchange items purchased online). Went back online to arrange for return/refund. The item was picked up on the 7th of March.
On the 4th of April, I went online to find out where my refund was at. I contacted Amazon.com via the Babies-R-Us website to find out what was going on through email first. On the 5th of April I Received a reply that a refund of $139.63 had been sent on the 13th of March. Called the company and spoke to "Paul" to find out why I was not receiving a full refund. He assured me that they would refund the full amount due to the explanation above. On the 7th of April, I received an email from Aravind S.in Amazon.com Customer Service that I would receive the remaining $20.02. On the 12th of April I again called Amazon.com and spoke with a woman (whose name I could not understant). She told me that a check for $139.63 had been cut and place in the mail on the 7th of April.
... Now something is funny here. I have an email saying that it was sent on 3/13, and they are now telling me by phone that it wasn't sent until 4/7???!!! And not for the full amount...
So, if you have a refund coming from Amazon.com, don't expect to receive the full amount or to receive it in a reasonable amount of time. I still don't have my refund and it doesn't take that long for mail to go from Seattle to Tacoma as is evidenced by the fact that they cashed my check one day after I mailed it!
