Internet Speedway
30 day trial ripoff

My case is almost identical to those submitted by Arturo of Orlando and Jack of Utah. To quote Jack:

I heard an add about Internet Speedway (hereafter referred to as IS) on the radio. I called them and was told that to receive information about the company I must pay $9.97 (S and H). I paid by credit card and the information arrived in about 7 days. The information was a CD, a video and a few papers.

I took a look at the cd and decided it wasn't worth my time - they didn't give you any substantial information about the products you could sell or what they would cost. Also, they talked about earning a commission on sales. Big deal. This wasn't an information package as they advertised, it was an obvious info-mercial that would tie you to them forever, and I suspected the only real money to be made was by them for their various monthly services. I pitched it in the garbage.

The only part of Jack's statement that I am not 100% in agreement with is when he said: My mistake was not reading the small print on the outside of the box stating that the program had to be returned in 30 days for a full refund." I don't think this was a mistake on our part at all because 1. I didn't see any fine print at all (remember, I wasn't looking for it - the ad said it was a free cd - Jack said it was printed on the box) and 2. I was told nothing about a 30 day trial offer and nothing about having to return the "package" when I gave them my credit card number for the shipping & handling charge.

I totally agree with Jack & Arturo on the next two statements:

I did not know this was a program, I was told it was information only

When my next credit card statement arrived I was being charged 59.95 by IS.

I called IS after the first charge appeared on my statement. The customer service representative said "didn't you read the terms and conditions". I told him that I had not and that I wasn't expecting nor had I agreed to any further terms and conditions because nothing was said about it on the radio ad, or when I called them and agreed to pay them $ 9.95 shipping & handling. Without saying another word, the customer service rep switched me to a voice mail announcement. I have no idea who the guy was but I left a message and never got a call back.

Today, I called the company twice again: This first guy disconnected me after I told him I wanted a credit back for the $ 59.99. After another 20 minute wait on the phone, the second guy told me they would review the "recorded sales call" to see if I was told about the 30 day trial. I told him go ahead because there was certainly no mention of it in our conversation - I don't do 30 day trials for this very reason. He said it would take three business days and to call them back for the outcome. At least he was civil.

Today, I found another charge for $ 59.99 from IS (it wasn't on my previous statement). I did a google search and I found the usacomplaints.com website and five previous reports here on Internet Speedway. After reading what happened to Jack, I decided to cancel my credit card and to get a new credit card account with new cards (They have been expedited and will be here by Friday).

I intend to report these guys to the Better Business Bureau, the Illinois Attorney General's Office, the Arizona Attorney General's Office, and anyone else who might have jurisdiction over Internet Speedway. These guys are total rip-off artists and hopefully will be shutdown soon, but in the meantime, like Arturo said: "BEWARE OF INTERNET SPEEDWAY."
