Purchased a Computer Desk at the Walmart Store in Spanaway, Washington, 10/13. The Maker of this (RTA) Ready-To-Assemble product was manufactured by Ameriwood Industries, Inc.
The amount was $58.00 advertised on Walmart's web page and sold inside the store. Purchased this product and found that I wasted my time and money, it took myself and daughter approximately 3 hours to pur together.
The defective materials and parts, (examples) too small (pinpoint) screw holes; will not stay in place after insertion, the wood materials are too thin when assembling the pieces, most of the screws are way too large to hold the parts together thwy bore all the way through the top which causes the product to become more defective and an eyesore.
Attempted to return it to the Walmart store and was informed to contact the Company for either replacement parts or refund. E-mailed Customer Service about the defective materials and they ordered the first two parts which they stated would take 4-6 weeks for delivery. Continued to construct the remaing parts and again had to stop to re-order two more parts after much complaining, I recieved order number two 11/02.
Same problem as before, too small screw holes and wafer thin storage shelf and keyboard shelf; never recieved the first orders placed 10/14. When I e-mailed my complaints again, and informed them I was trashing the whole thing and wanted my money back, they sent a reply telling me to take it back to Walmart for a refund and if anyone gave me a prblem to contact them with a name and number.
I informed them that it was way too late for that it was sitting in a dumpster and I was going to go back to retrieve it and go through changes with Walmart without the orignal packing materials it came in. Haven't heard back from them as of yet, I'm out of my money with nothing to show for it. There products are cheaply made and shouldn't be on the market with some major modifications made to better what they distribute and sell to the consumer. DONOT waste your money wait until you can afford to purchase furniture that is better made and have a much better return policy governing defective merchandise.
