I recently bid and won an auction on Ebay of a DVD from a gentlman with the name of 'karlspeaks'. Payed with PayPal (right away - which is something I don't usually do - I usually wait a day then pay). 2 Days went by and I finally emailed the Seller to find out when I would receive my item. No response. I emailed again. No response. I finally received an email stating that it takes 7 days to ship the item.
However, I never received a notification of shipment. Through the help of other Ebay users who has been scammed by this seller - we located Mr. Karl in Washington. We spoke with him on the phone and he did infact, admit he knew Steve Rainey. At that time, he was not convinced that Mr. Rainey was not legitimate (I am sure he is singing a different tune now). I periodically check this website to see if there are any new development when lo and behold I read about Stacie's update. I took the initiative to contact Mr. Rainey at the website & email address listed and he was very surprised to know that I had contacted him. He actually stated, "How did you get this email address." I told him from another email buyer.
The long and short of the story is that I have been corresponding back and forth with Mr. Rainey and he claims to have no knowledge of 'karlspeaks' or of any DVD enterprise. He said "That was a while back. We are no longer involved in that." To which I replied, "But it wasn't that long ago, because I just won my auction on 3/23 and you refunded the other Buyer's money on 3/18." To which I received no response.
I will continue to forward any email report that I receive with respect to Mr. Rainey to any of the other ebay Buyers that has been scammed by him. I will also continue to periodically attempt to contact him to receive a refund.
In any event, I wouldn't trust his Travel Business nor would I trust any venture attached to his name.
