Ripoff Fraudulent Billing

I received a bill from this company on 11/20/04 for $30.00. Like so many others on this site, mine was for the same number in the UK 44 207 335 84. I knew immediately this was a scam as nobody in our home visits pay per view sites and the time of the call was when there was nobody home on the computer.

As the invoice from PPC indicated, there was a charge to the UK from Tellis for $13.32 which SBC billed my account on behalf of USBI. I contacted USBI and indicated this was a scam and I had no intention of paying. The representative I spoke to indicated she would give me a "one time" credit for the full amount and put a block on my phone number preventing Tellis from invoicing me in the future. I also contacted SBC to advise them I was disputing this portion of the bill and they put that portion into "claims" so I would not incur late fees etc while waiting for the credit to appear from USBI.

I have also contacted the USPS Fraud unit and they were VERY familiar with this company. They have requested I fill out a fraud form and send them copies of all documentation received from PPC including the envelope my invoice arrived in.

The attorney general's office is sending me forms to complete so they can begin a file on this company. I have a feeling this group has just started hitting Oklahoma. The FBI indicated they would work in conjunction with one of the other agencies if approached.

I have also contacted the local media to encourage them to put out some sort of information to the public concerning this scam so people don't send money in fearing these people are legitimate.

I took me forever, but I finally got through to Premier Premium Communications. I spoke to someone named "Nicki". She didn't announce the company name when she answered but when I asked she immediately asked me for my invoice number and indicated she was going to credit my account (even though their invoice clearly states they won't do that over the phone) and she was blocking my number from their "database" so I could never be billed again. When I asked her why I was billed to begin with she indicated someone's pop up ad was written in such a way that when you said no, or closed it, it grabbed your information and "then they can have access to your computer whether you are aware or not, legally or illegally... We'll not illegally (yeah right!). I have requested an invoice indicating a zero balance, but she said they don't do that... If anyone had any questions or I received another bill "just call or have whoever calls ask for Nicki".

Hopefully this will be the end of this scam for me, but I will be contacting the credit bureau's etc to make sure I have covered all my bases.
