Nina is active in several online social forums, including the chat room #Seattle, located on the efnet server of IRC (Internet Relay Chat, www.mirc.com), where her numerous screen names include Nina, NinaF or Koosh. She is also active on the online blogging community livejournal.com where her screen name is NinaF (ninaf. Livejournal.com) and she participates in
several communities there, including the Seattle group. She works as a test engineer at F5 Networks in Seattle, a position requiring trust on behalf of her employer, as well as her employer's customers.

Nina's online behavior, especially on IRC, where she can get immediate reactions, is recurrently cruel and disturbing. Since the 1990s, Nina has spent up to 16 hours daily on online social forums, doing and saying extremely hostile things. Many people on these forums have remarked that they are much more likely to see her logged on than logged off.
