Meadow Brook Baptist Church was billed via our Centurytel Telephone bill for two charges of $49.95 each for a web page and first month service by Webxites. We are a small rural church without a computer and have no need for a web site. One of our church members recalls answering the phone in September by someone conducting a "survey". He answered several questions about the church that had obvious "yes" answers. When we contacted Webxites they play back his answers but they are responding to a different set of questions. Webxites refuses to remove the charge even though the Church does not have a computer and has never used the service. The Churchmember also has no authority from the church to enter into contracts or expend funds and would never have knowingly done so. This apparent fraudulent practive of substituting survey question & answers to scripted sales questions should be investigated.
