Shopping for an endocrinologist for Diabetes can get a bit interesting. Since my former General Practice Doctor increased the initial price 5 fold after testing for diabetes, I decided to shop for an endocrinologist since Diabetes happens to be one of their specialties. Of course, like everything else, I am shopping for price. Because I keep tight control of my diabetes so that nothing can go wrong (diet, exercise, taking my meds as prescribed) all I need a Doctor for is to get my prescription renewed, so I decide to call this office. I ask the receptionist "how much for the office visit?" she replies "479$, however you can make that in three installments!" I say, "No, no I can't lady, because nobody charges that amount just to renew someone's prescription for a life saving pill form drug, your office is price gouging, and I am reporting you to whomever will listen!"
Moral of the story, if you don't want my business, that is fine, just tell me you don't want or need it. You don't have to price gouge a person just because "you can". I think Doctors need to be held as accountable as any business out there, and that is why I am sending out this alert to other Diabetics to steer clear of this "business". They seem to be too busy golfing to do their jobs, or uphold the oath they took when they became a Doctor. You know, to "help people".
