On January 8, I received root canal treatment from Todd Gentling DDS. During the procedure, a part of the handfile was broken in one of the canals. I later find, this was noted in the Dr's. Notes. Dr. Gentling failed to inform me of his negligence. I was not offered to have the tooth repaired by someone more qualifed or the tooth pulled at that time.in November of I began to have increasing pain in that same tooth. Eventually the pain subsided, yet the crown came off. I went to Dr. Gentlings office to get the crown re-attached. During this procedure, Dr. Gentling asks, if this tooth has been a problem, of which I informed him that ironically it had. He said no more, re-attached the crown and I was done. A few days later the pain returned. I called to make an appointment, and was told I would need to see an Endodontist, due to the fact that I had a broken file in one of the canals, and would require a re-treat of which he was not qualified to do. This is how I found out about the problem. I requested a copy of my records, of which as I stated earlier, that this problem was documented, by him, or one of his staff. Dr. Gentling at no time ever owned up too his mistake, or made any attempt to make things right.
I referred this case to the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, and there finding was, and I quote " It is the decision of this Board, that clear and convincing evidence of a violation of the State Dental Act or rules of the Board does not exist. Issues involving "quality" of care are not within the Board's jurisdiction. This matter is closed".
I must assume that Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, is not concerned about the actions of the Licsensed Dentists in this state, or the fact that said Dentists act with negligence. How can a State Board "Not" be involved with the quality of care a Dentist performs. Other wise what is that State Boards purpose.
Attorneys on the other hand, state Dental Negligence is clear and convincing in my case. Yet they won't pursue such a case due to lack of financial loss.
So it's evident Dentists like Dr. Gentling can perform dental malpractice, and get away with it, and the public knows no better. Now thats negligence.
