Worst Experience Ever!

The WORST experience ever! I had to get a crown done in Dr. Crowden’s office and had schedule my appointment almost a week before my arrival in his office, but was not informed by his receptionist until I arrived that I would have to pay $168. I gave her a credit card and politely asked could she let me know next time before I come in the office when I have to pay. She rudely replied to me that I needed to ask her and her not tell me and I simply said o.K. On this visit his assistants did the majority of the work at $840; he drilled and left drilled and left. The assistant that was left in the room with me was polite, but was new and it was her first time doing a lot of this procedure. I spent so long in the chair that my pain meds wore off and my neck became stiff & sore. I saw Dr. Crowden one other time when I looked up saw him come partially into the room and he turned right around and left. He never came back again even after the crown was in to make sure that the work was done correctly and it wasn’t because I had an uneven bite. The crown put in by his staffer ended up breaking in half on a Saturday at my daughter’s birthday party. I did not want to go back to this office after my first experience, but felt helpless because I felt no other dentist would finish the work that he started. Also, because my insurance would not pay for this procedure to be done twice, I should have taken my chances somewhere else. It was a BIG MISTAKE to return to this office and a day my daughter and I will never forget. As with my last visit he left the room to let someone else do the work not this time his assistant because she was not there, but his hygienists who had not done this before; and he had to explain to her what to do. I made the mistake of asking him why he doesn't stay in the room while procedures are being done because I was a new patient and simply did not know. He became very rude, unprofessional, and hostile towards me and responded by saying he did not know that he was being watched. He continued to say that he has a busy practice and does not have time to spend with one patient, but I responded by saying that there are no other patient here today. He continued on his rant and still left the room after I voiced my concerns. During the time that he was gone I would learn from my daughter he was with his receptionist in the front discussing me. He did eventually return to finish my dental work still with an attitude, slamming items down, when he was done he did not ask how my bite felt he just left the room.

As I was walking down the hall speaking to the hygienists who had been in the room and telling her that my bite still felt off and how long could I continue like this before the crown would break. Dr. Crowden came behind us into the waiting room to confront me and for a fear of what he would do I sent my daughter out of his office, but he did not wait until she was out of the office to begin his belittlement.

Dr. Crowden in the waiting room yelled at me that I was upset from last time that I had to pay money, making the assumption that I could not afford his services, repeated information about my treatment, and stated that I was upset that he did not perform my procedure. He ended this belittlement by slamming the door in my face so that I could not respond. As I was trying to request my records and xrays be sent to my mailing address and explain to his receptionists that I was not upset when she had not informed me prior to me arriving the last visit that I needed to pay money. Dr. Crowden comes to the window gets in my face and tells me very rudely that this is his office and to get out. He continued to yell at me and become very enraged that this is his office and he does not want me here and to get out.

I have never experienced such unprofessional, rude, scary, and hostile behavior by any professional as I experienced in Dr Crowden's office. I left his office in tears and my daughter was in the parking lot in tears because she was scared after seeing and hearing part of Dr. Crowden’s confrontation towards me. We will never forget this experience! I still have to go to another dentist and I am terrified.
