At end of COBRA coverage we searched for an insurance company. This company called, sales person told us they were with a big insurance company which was holding open enrollment and needed to take on a few customers with pre-existing conditions and that our situation and zip code fullfilled the requirements. Offered wonderful coverage, we checked for our Doctors in their list and also made sure that my husbands Rhematoid Arthritis meds would be covered. This was all confirmed by the sales person. WE enrolled on March 16 this year. When I called back with another question I spoke to someone in the customer service department. I asked if their plan would fulfill the requirements for insurance in the state of Massachusetts. He told me that they were not an insurance company but a discount program.
I informed him that the sales person had told me a very different story and had basically lied to me. I then cancelled our enrollment on March 27 by phone with this agent and he promised my cc would be refunded in 10-15 business days. (except for a 75 dollar enrollement fee & EACH) However no money has been refunded and my card is disputing the charges. Today April 30, I find that the company has charged another months fees on my card... These are now in dispute. I called Congressional Health plans today and in trying to speak to customer service I waited through many recordings and was then cut off... 2 times. I then selected to talk to the sales department... I was connected and I explained that I needed customer service. I was a connected and as soon as I mentioned that I had quit the plan but had not received a refund the agent hung up on me. WE have not used any services of this company which is preying on people desperate for real insurance... Their deceptive practices left us very little time to find a genuine insurance company before our coverage lapsed.
