Custom Built Personal Trainers
Cancellation Fee

I was dissatisfied with the trainer and the total service of Custom Built Trainers. They were not doing what I was told they would do.

The trainer didn't ask if I had any physical limitations, nor did she ask what areas I was wanting to work on. Basically, she just threw me on some machines for 30 minutes.

She did not talk about nutrition. She didn't give instructions as to how frequent to work on exercises she assigned.

Another concern was when I came into the office the first day to get my folder. I noticed there were piles of folders sitting everywhere. I felt uncomfortable going through all those folders to find my own. I could have read any of these customer folders as I was looking for my folders! That seems to threaten other CBPT customers' privacy, in my opinion!

I mentioned to the staff memeber in the office at the time. He said, "Yeah, this place is really messed up. That's why I'm here to try to get things in order". Then went on to say, "These trainers are so sloppy and never take care of their customers".

So a couple of days later, I spoke with CBT manager onsite at the YouFit location about my concerns.

His first comment was, "Well, we've had a lot of complaints about that trainer. So, I'll get someone else to work with you!" then he asked, "what's your name?" I told him.

The next time I saw him, I asked the status of my complaint, and he asked my name AGAIN!

The next day, I saw him... Yes... He asked for my name again and assured me that a different trainer would contact me.

When I signed the contract it was a two page agreement with lots of verbiage. I didn't have my reading glasses at the time (because I just finished working out) so I didn't read it in it's entirety. So, I asked the Manager 2-3 times (witnessed by my friend) if there was a cancellation fee. He answered all 3 times that there was no cancellation fee, and a 30 day notice is all they required. I was lied to, because there is a $250 cancellation fee!

I sent a certified letter of cancellation to their corporate office. They rec'd on 1/5, yet no one has contacted me from their office. I called them on 1/11 and was on hold for 12 minutes.

At the time of signing my contract, it was explained that I had to pay $125/month, first & last month up front and $49 initiation fee. Now that is not true. The Customer Service re-verified that $250 was being charged to my account and it was clearly stated in the contract and had nothing to do with First & Last month's services.

I'm so screwed. Like PT Barnum said, "there's one born every minute"
