I went to the gym today like I do most days, and I ALWAYS have a workout buddy. I am a certified personal trainer and nutritionist, but do not do it for a living, it's just something I do in my spare time. Well, I went to the gym with my mom, which was the first time she's ever been to a gym, and I had one of your so called "personal trainers" come up to me and told me I had to work out and I could not train other people. I calmly explained to her that I knew what I was doing and I was making my mom comfortable on the machines and making sure her form was right so she didn't hurt herself and that this was the first time she had ever been to a gym. The lady told me I couldn't do that and they offer those kind of services and rolled her eyes and walked away. My mom then proceeded to tell me that she would not EVER take advice from a personal trainer that had 2 rolls bulging out of her large t-shirt and absolutely no muscle tone. I honestly did not appreciate the way the trainer approached me and my mother about working out especially because I see this "personal trainer" trying to work with other people almost every time I go to the gym, and she doesn't watch form or explain the machines that well, and I've caught her many times have people work on the machines and not watch them, and at the same time tell them that they are doing good. This is a serious problem because people could hurt themselves if not properly exercising. I would appreciate it that your trainers be more observant, explain the machines and exercises better, and be friendlier because this is what a trainer is supposed to be. This woman hardly ever smiles and she has always made my workout buddies and husband and now my mother, very uncomfortable when they go to the gym with me. And I honestly don't understand why she came up to me that day because all of your staff has seen me work with other people, including that "trainer", and no one has ever said anything to me and I honestly don't think I was doing anything wrong. I am not getting paid, I make sure people are safe, and I don't let people know that I am a trainer, and I judge NO ONE. The reason I have workout buddies with me is because I want people to work out and most people feel like they need a workout buddy, but when you have staff that treat people like she did, it makes it so people don't want to workout or go back to the gym at all.
