Peggy Lahner, Psy. D. Chesterland OhioDr. Lahner Negligence, Welfare of the client: competence

Dr. Lahner is a psychologist licensed to practice psychology in the State of Ohio, holds license #3247, original date of licensure November 20,1982, and is subject to all laws and rules of Ohio regulating the practice of psychology.

Dr. Lahner renders psychological treatment and forensic psychological services, (including direct service to domestic courts and parties to legal proceedings) from a private practice in Chesterland, Ohio.

In March agents of the Board received a formal complaint from Mrs. H. Alleging that Dr. Lahner provided phsychotherapy to Mrs. H's ex-husband, (Mr. H.) and subsequently attempted to influence the legal proceedings regarding parenting time and parental rights and responsibilities of their minor child.

Dr. Lahner established an individual psychotherapy relationship with Mr. H. Beginning around November. Subsequently, around February Dr. Lahner referred the child for psychological evaluation to a colleage.

Dr. Lahner DID NOT treat, evaluate, or otherwise provide phsychological services to the minor child.

Dr. Lahner had NO CONTACT with Mrs. H throughout this matter, as Dr. Lahner was exclusively MR. H's Phsychotherapist and the referral source for the child's evaluation.

In the context of an ongoing parenting dispute in Geauga and Cuyahoga Domestic relations court, Dr. Lahner received a letter from the chiold's guardian requesting "therapy records".

Dr. Lahner responded sending a letter offering praise to Mr. H's parenting style; rendering opinions about academic and social functioning and needs of the child; ands potentially risked misleading readers to understand that she had an appropriate database and professional relationships with the members of the family on such issues.

Dr. Lahner ADMITS that psychologists in psychotherapy are at risk of having impaired objectivity relative to claims and persons associated with clients, and must carefully manage boundaries and role clarification when therapy clients and their family members are in litigation.

Dr. Lahner ADMITS thatthe opinions and recommendations she rendered to the gaurdian about the chil's needs and functioning were without a reasonable professional basis, given that her opinions were based soley on Mr. H's self reports, on her colleages evaluation of the child, and on olny breif social interactions with the child in her offices.

Dr. Lahner ADMITS that her actions are reasonably construed as an attempt to advocate in the legal system in favor of Mr. H's desires to be named the residential parent contrary to longstanding standards in the profession.

Dr. Lahner Admits that her conduct VIOLATED provisions ofv the Ohio Revised Codeby being negligent in the practice of Psychology and by violating rules of conmduct promulgated by the board.

Dr. Lahner was found guilty and admitted guilt under NEGLIGENCE, WELFARE OF THE CLIENT & COMPETENCE.

Actions taken against Dr. Lahner were: Reprimand and Practice restriction of 12 month minimum.

Think twice before you allow this woman to enter into a theraputic relationship. She can't be trusted.
