I took my dog to the Banfield vet at Victory and Canoga in Canoga Park for a bordetella and rabies update. First of all this vet charges more for the vaccines than normal plus they tack on an extra office visit charge. I put up with that since they were convenient and seemed like a pretty nice facility. The second day my dog woke up in pain, warm, somewhat subdued, and not hungery, etc. He had a slight lump over the inection site and cried in pain when touched. Called the Banfield vet and was told this was an emergency and please bring the dog in right away. When I get there they wanted to charge me $45 to look at the dog and the counter people INSISTED there was no way at all it could be a reaction to the rabies vaccine even though there was swelling at the injection site. After much complaining and arguing they got the nurse who then told me that this was a perfectly safe and normal reaction to the vaccine, etc. So essentially, they were going to try and charge me $45 to take my dog in back and tell me that this was a normal reaction, which they absolutely should have known and told me about either when he got the shot initially or when I called.
