Would you pay $115.00 dollars to get an eye exam for your 4 year old even if you have insurance? That is just what your out out of pocket let alone what they billed the insurance company. Well I am out twice that amount for my 4 and 3 year old, seeing this office.
I called their office before I booked the appointment to make sure that they took my insurance they said they did. I have cigna medical and another for vision and when I got their filled all the forms out. They asked for the medical and I asked the receptionist why they did not take the vision card she said that they would file with the medical first then they would do the vision. I should have seen the red flag and asked someone else, or just left.
After the exam on my 3 and 4 year old I paid $80.00 for their eye exams and now I get a bill for $75.00 each one. That would be a total of $115.00 that I am out. I am on a budget and when i was asked to pay $80.00 the first time that was steep I was expecting to pay $30.00 at the most for both my copay for eye exams is $15.00 with my eye vision. I can honestly say that I got ripped off. Knowing what I know now I am afraid of eye doctors offices.
I spoke to someone their and now she tells me that there is a difference they are an optomologist not an optomitrist and I was not told that when I called. If I would have I would have just gotten their exam at an "optomitrist office". The exams looked the same to me (I am not a doctor) but I have worn glasses since I was 6 and I have had 20 something years at the optomitrist office. All she could tell me is "I'm sorry" It up to me to know. But "I'm sorry" does not put $115.00 in my pocket to pay these people. We are a family of 5 and with the way things are going in the economy I just don't have the money. Let alone how angry my husband is going to be at me for letting this happen, not watching out for our money.
