Stephanie Larson was my doula and a distant friend of mine just got pregnant and signed up for her "Dancing for Birth" class. If I had known that this was something she wanted, I would have steered her away from DFB and in the right direction. My friend had been dancing belly dance, jazz, and ballet for many years when she took Stephanie Larson's class, and she was completely disappointed when she dropped money that could have gone to her baby and actual fetal positioning help on somebody who didn't use proper dance moves and didn't seem to be very confident when asked direct questions.
Being a near-professional dancer herself, my friend was going to go for the instructor training through Dancing For Birth, but gave it up after she took a few classes at the Maryland Heights Center and was disgusted that she was out of that money. Good thing she did give it up, too, because the "instructor training certification" isn't a certification at all: Dancing For Birth is owned by Stephanie Larson, she hands out these "certificates", and then there's not much you can do with them afterwards because it's an imaginary credential. Stephanie is the only instructor DFB uses (since DFB is Stephanie), and other institutions want to see real training if you were to use this as a part-time job.
