Walgreens Pharmacy shorting prescrition for vicodin controlled substance. Only dispensed 30 pills on a 40 pill prescription. Denied fault

On 08/27, I had surgery on my shoulder. My Doctor prescribed 40 pills of vicodin. I had my precription filled at Walgreens pharmacy in Penfield, NY. I did not open my prescription container until 9:30 pm when my nerve block began to wear off. I opened the container and it tipped on the coffee table. Looking at the stack of pills it did not look like 40. I counted them as I put them back in the container and there were only 30 pills in the bottle. I returned to Walgeens at 8:30 the following morning and asked for the store manager.

When the manager arrived, he walked me back to the pharmacy and we spoke with the pharmacy manager. They said they checked their on hands for pill count and they were not over or short and that I had been given 40 pills and they can not control what happens after the prescription leaves their pharmacy. I stated that I only received 30 pills and they should check their cameras and contact their Loss Prevention department. I asked for their District Loss Prevetion Phone number and I personally reporterd the shortage.

I called the local police to report the incident as well. The police said they would do a background check on me and look into it. Walgreens called me back to tell me they did not see anything on their cameras. I asked them if their cameras were detailed enough to verify a pill count. They said they could not actually count the pills by the camera, but everything looked fine, so I did get 40 pills. I informed them again that I had only recieved 30 pills and that my Doctor would issue me another prescription and that I am not looking for more pills, I just do not want these drugs being sold in my community or my school district.

I asked them to have there loss prevention profressionals interview the employees as I am sure this is not the first time their employee has done this. I do plan on getting a permit to picket their store warning my community to Count each and every prescription dispensed from this Walgreens. The Walgreens Pharmacy Manager asked me why I was making such a big deal out of this. Excuse me? I have children in Penfield Schools and I drive my family on Penfield streets. If these drugs are being abused by one of their employees they are driving on my roads. If this employee is selling these drugs for profit, they could hurt our children. This is a big deal to me. And should be even a bigger deal to them. Walgreens is protecting their people, not the community.
